About
Hi, I am Stephanie Murton, a fine-art photographer based in Staffordshire. I have a passion for creating imagery as this makes me happy. I believe photography is a powerful tool, helpful in allowing for the communication of ideas, the participation, inclusion and discussion of important topics and themes, as well as the potential of inspiring others.
As an autistic woman, photography has become a brilliant platform for self-expression and self-understanding, allowing for the creation of meaningful images. I am truly committed to capturing moments which evoke emotion. I am a Staffordshire University graduate and was awarded my BA (Hons) Photography first-class degree in July 2018; with a degree exhibition piece titled "The Art of Autism: An Aspie Girl In A Neurotypical," this body of work can be viewed here (note: links open in a separate tab).
My ongoing projects titled "Flowers" and "Houseplants" engage with the natural world. Being immersed within nature and all things plant related brings great joy, serenity and has positive health benefits also. In my opinion, this area of work is greatly suited for me as it desires a dedicated, patient and open mindset to allow for a great appreciation and fully-engaged approach to creating photographs. As this inspires me greatly, and the environment is constantly changing and developing, I am motivated and challenged to develop my creative techniques further to create unique images, I intend to share my passion with you through the imagery I produce.
